RAB NE BANA DI JODI:
Ticket windows which were deserted till a week ago, finally have people lining up
The advance bookings for SRK’s first and only release of 2008 Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi started late on Wednesday.
The big question trade pundits are asking is, will Shah Rukh get the audience back to cinemas?”
Over the last two weeks post 26/11, film theatres have registered a very low occupancy of
15 – 20 per cent and almost all the films released during the period – be it Mirabai Not Out, Dil Kabbadi, Oh My God, Maharathi or Sorry Bhai have hit the dust.
But it looks like SRK’s new romantic drama will change that trend.
Senior.Vice President,Cinemax Devang Sampat says, “The advance has also started and we have seen an lot of good corporate bookings.”
COO, Fame Adlabs Rishi Negi says, “If you look at Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Shah Rukh, I think we opened the advances yesterday.
So the verdict is that it’s a mixed response to SRK’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi going by advance bookings.
Though the footfalls to cinema halls seem to have resumed, there’s still a lot of catching up to do when compared to the advance rush for Shah Rukh’s last release Om Shanti Om.
To cash in on a bumper opening this Yashraj film releases with 1200 prints all over India.
So there’s a lot riding on Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi including a reaffirmation of SRK’s star power over Mumbai’s filmgoers.
